House Tour Part 1

Our house is finally "done".  For several months we've needed one more piece of furniture for the 'dining room'.  First, because the room is big and only had our table in it.  Second, I needed more storage.  We finally bought something, so I've taken a few pictures of our house to give an online tour.  (Plus, it was great motivation to clean things up!)

We live on the second floor of a big house.  There's a common front door that leads into a big stairway.  Our landlords live on the 1st floor, with another army guy on the 3rd floor.

Taken from the field on the other side of the road.  That's the front of our house.  The lot on the right is empty. 

When you open our door on the second floor you end up in an entryway.  To the right are the family room/dining room/kitchen. To the left are the bedrooms/bathrooms.  Today I'll show pictures of the prettier part of the house.

Walking in the front door.  

Left side of entry.  That archway leads to a hallway with bedrooms.   (And thats the front door.  Kind of funny because its a glass panel!)

Right side of entry. Door to dining room straight ahead.  Door to family room on the left.  

When you go through the "family room door" from the entryway, you see this.  We love that window, which takes up the entire wall.  

In front of the sofa.  On the right, you can kind of see a door that leads out to a balcony.  

Behind the sofa is a bunch of empty space at the minute.  It has a desk, and maybe someday we'll add something else.  The piano was supposed to go in the corner where the desk is, but it sadly didn't fit up the stairs, so its in our landlord's basement...  You can see the sliding doors (accordian wall?  Whats it called?) that lead into the dining room.  There's no lack of doors in our house.  But we never use them-- just keep them open.  

From the family room, this is the left side of the dining room.  

And the right side.  (And our new buffet!  I still need to fill it up.)   You can see the archway into the kitchen.

After walking into the kitchen, this is the wall in front.  

Same wall, but other side.  Funny thing-- that top "cabinet" is actually a little fridge.  That doesn't work.  So it just makes for really awkward and inefficient storage space.  

This is the view out that window in the kitchen (near the sink).  This is a big reason we love our location.  It's on a hill, with a big farm across the street, so we can see the whole town.  

The opposite wall had no built-in anything.  So we bought this, which sits opposite the sink.
