Almost to a year. This year has flown by. And we can't believe how big this kid is. He's been pretty clingy and unhappy lately and I wish I knew why. I end up carrying him around the house WAY more than I'd like to. But he also has stretches of playing on his own with toys.
I think his favorite room in the house is the toy room. It's kid-friendly and he'll sit and play with all the stuff independently. (Actually, he loves the kids' bathroom, but usually isn't allowed to hang out in there. If I take my eyes off him for a minute, that's the first place I look for him.)
He cruises around on furniture and has learned to stand up on his own and stay for a few seconds before toppling over.
In the past 4-ish weeks he's developed eczema, mostly on his legs. I was trying to figure out if its allergy related, but doesn't seem to be. It just fluctuates between dry and scaly to red and inflamed. Mila and Siena had this starting around 18 months (I think?) so it's familiar but still a little frustrating. He gets slathered in a LOT of hydrophor.
I bought a corral thing, like a giant, portable pack and play. He HATES it. I had visions of taking this to parks, pools, beaches, etc and having a safe place to put him. (Even in the backyard while the kids play soccer.) But if he's in there alone for even 10 seconds he stands up and cries to get out. Our one success is bribing the older kids to go in with him to play, and then he's content, at least for a little while. You win some and lose some...
This kid is CLUMSY. He gets hurt all. the. time. Like he'll just fall over into furniture and smash his face. I think he has 3 bruises on his face right now. And the pain makes him angry, where its difficult to console him.
Still only 2 teeth on the bottom, although I swear he's been teething for the last two weeks. Where are those teeth that I imagine are causing him so much pain? haha. He bites my finger and any other toy he can get in his mouth.
His sleep has thankfully improved a little. We changed nap lengths during the day, and now he sleeps in until just after 6 am, instead of in the 5-o-clock hour. I wish it was closer to 7, but its a step in the right direction. He goes to bed at 7:30 pm, and naps from 10-11:30 and 3-4. (Last night I was reading about how, at a year, Tiago slept from 7:30 pm - 8:30 am. That made me really miss his excellent sleeping!) It's also not uncommon for Enzo to wake up between 3-6 am and cry for 5-20 minutes before putting himself back to sleep. But at least there are no more feedings.
We need to weigh him for a more exact number, but I'm guessing he weighs 22-23 lbs. He's got some solid rolls.
Lastly, as evidenced by all these photos, he definitely has a 'look'. It involves biting on his lower lip and staring. Luckily, out of a few dozen pictures, we got one smile.
