I didn't know much about the Army when I met Hyrum. I found out he was in ROTC, and my only thought was that he was crazy for being willing to get up so early to exercise!! In the last year, I've learned more than the average person. I know the difference between ROTC and National Guard. I know that the army has "posts" and not "bases." I know that Hyrum can't be deployed until after he graduates because he's in the ROTC program.
So when people ask me where Hyrum is, I usually just say "He's training with the Army for a month in Washington (state)" because they have no idea what LDAC is, or who goes, or why, etc. Not worth explaining. Plus I don't think they actually care.
Life here in the Ohio has been lonely. I 'celebrated' our anniversary by myself on Sunday. It's in apostrophes because there actually wasn't much celebration. Hyrum is "in the field" for 17 days, so we're back to old fashion communication with paper, stamps, envelopes, etc. So today when someone asked how he is and what he's been up to I said, "No idea..." Hope he's doing well. Maybe I'll find out in a few days when a letter shows up.
So after 2 weeks of separation I (hand)wrote him and asked if he really thinks multiple deployments throughout our marriage is going to work!? If so, I'll deal with it, but I'm not enjoying the single life.
