One of my favorite memories from the fall was from our visit to an Oktoberfest celebration in Forth Worth. We thought we'd give the kids a small taste of their birth country. And of course they didn't touch the sausage or sauerkraut.
We sat down at the festival tables to eat while a polka band was playing live music. At one point they invited people to come dance at the stage, so Hyrum asked if any of the kids wanted to go dance. Mila raised her hand with delight, and the two of them went and had a great time on the dance floor. After that song, Hyrum came back and asked Siena and Tiago if they wanted to go dance. Siena growled with a grumpy face, letting us know that was the last thing on earth she wanted to do, and Tiago would rather die than dance in front of a huge crowd.
But no sooner had Hyrum sat down than Mila was up on her feet pulling at his hand in the direction of the dance floor. So Hyrum took her back for another few songs, and just the two of them twirled around the empty floor. Mila was SO happy.
I only got a few fuzzy pictures, but I will always treasure this reminder of how different our kids are, and how much Mila lights up with one-on-one attention and a little dancing.
